FNB is phasing out Internet Explorer 8
September 2014

If you're still using an outdated browser, you'll no longer be able to login to your banking profile.

Upgrading is free and simple - and keeps you up to date with the latest technology.

Frequently asked questions
Why is FNB no longer supporting Internet Explorer 8?

Support for Windows XP ceased on 8 April 2014. Internet Explorer 8 is the only version of Internet Explorer that is available to use on Windows XP.

FNB cannot be restricted by the limitations Internet Explorer 8 imposes on our ability to develop a world class Online Banking system. To this end we recommend that if you use Windows XP you download Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox to operate our solution effectively.

Windows Vista and Windows 7 Users can upgrade to Internet Explorer 9, 10 or 11.

Windows 8 users can upgrade to Internet Explorer 11.

How do I upgrade my browser?

The easiest way to upgrade your browser is to select 'Download newer browser' and then choose the relevant link to download the software.

What will happen if I don't upgrade my browser and keep Internet Explorer 8?

Users trying to access the FNB website from an Internet Explorer 8 after the 14 September 2014 will be directed to download either Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox from our Register Page (please refer to Question 2).

My company policies don't allow us to download any other browsers, what are my options?

Since you will no longer be able to access your banking profile from an Internet Explorer 8 browser from 14 September 2014, we recommend you discuss this with the network administrator at your company and arrange to have Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox downloaded through our Register Page (please refer to Question 2).

The Microsoft support lifecycle of Windows XP (of which Internet Explorer 8 is a component) ended on 08 April 2014. Why is FNB ending support if Microsoft will continue to provide support?

Our policy is to support the latest three versions of the browser, which are now versions 9, 10 and 11.

We will continue to support Windows XP use but cannot allow access through Internet Explorer and therefore encourage you to make use of Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox for a better online user experience.
