Requirements


The applicant must:

  1. Be a legal entity in South Africa in terms of the Companies Act, 1973 (as amended) or the Companies Act, 2008 (as amended); the Close Corporation Act, 1984 (as amended) or the Co-operatives Act, 2005 (as amended).
  2. Be involved in starting a new operation or in expanding or upgrading an existing operation.
  3. Be aligned to the productive sectors of the economy within specific sectors (please view the guidelines).
  4. Be B-BBEE compliant and more than 50% of the company must be owned by black South Africans who are directly involved in the day-to-day running of the operation and have the necessary sector expertise.
  5. Have a project with a minimum investment of R30 million. This project must result in securing or increasing direct employment.
  6. Achieve at least 4 of the economic benefit criteria (please view the additional information booklet )

What this is


Cultivating Black Industrialism

The Black Industrialist Scheme offers a cost-sharing grant ranging from 30% to 50% to approved entities (up to a maximum of R50 million). Support is offered on a cost-sharing basis towards:

  • Capital investment costs;
  • Feasibility studies towards a bankable business plan;
  • Post-investment support; and
  • Business development services.

The grant may be fully utilised on capital investments or can be split between capital investment and other support measures (as listed above). For more information, please click below.
