Complete the registration process + enter your account details
Log in to the FNB App or FNB Online Banking
Approve payment by selecting 'Pay', then 'eFiling'
2. Choose a branch + book your appointment
Login to your eChannel profile
Select a branch (FNB Lynnwood, FNB Centurion Lifestyle, FNB 4 Merchant Place, FNB Greenpoint, FNB Burgersfort, FNB Cornubia and FNB The Glen)
Select a time and date for your appointment
Print the confirmation page
3. Visit the branch
Visit the FNB branch at the date and time you have selected
Bring your ID book (or police affidavit in case of lost/stolen ID) when you visit the branch

Photos will be taken at the branch
You will receive an SMS to notify you once the Smart ID is ready for collection
Bring your ID book along when you collect the Smart ID
eChannel is a web based tool that will enable eligible South Africans to apply for their Smart ID simply by visiting the Department of Home Affairs website, completing your details, paying for the document and securing an appointment to finalise the applications process. Unfortunately, no payment can be made by credit or cheque card in the branch.
The applicant will visit the branch at the selected time of their appointment. The applicant's fingerprints and photographs will be captured to complete the process.
The service is currently only available at the following seven branches:
The Home Affairs eChannel system can only handle 2000 users concurrently. In order to handle the large number of volumes expected, the system has been restricted to a certain age group. The Bank takes guidance from the Department of Home Affairs on operational matters related to eChannel. Once a decision has been made by the Department of Home Affairs to open up eChannel to a wider group of people we will communicate with our customers.
