Zimbabwe Money Transfer

FNB Zimbabwe Money Transfer is an innovative money transfer service that allows FNB customers residing in South Africa to Send Money to an individual in Zimbabwe, who has a valid Zimbabwean identity document. The funds can be collected instantly at a participating OK Zimbabwe Ltd Money Counter. The FNB Zimbabwe Money Transfer is an instant, easy and affordable money transfer solution.

How can I use this?

  • You can Send Money to Zimbabwe from your active FNB transactional* account as long as you are registered for InContact and Cellphone Banking or Online Banking
  • Most cellphone models can be used to Send Money, it's not limited to a Smartphone!
  • You can Send Money at any time of the day or night via Cellphone Banking or Online Banking

*Please note: Currently, FNB customers cannot Send Money to Zimbabwe from FNB Credit Card Accounts.

Where to collect the funds?

A Recipient can collect funds in South African Rand (ZAR), at no additional cost to the Recipient, from a participating OK Zimbabwe Ltd Money Counter .

What will it cost?

Note : The amount you will be able to send to Zimbabwe will depend on how much you have already spent on Prepaid Airtime, Prepaid Electricity and sending money to an eWallet. The total amount you can spend across these services in ONE day is R1 500 on Cellphone Banking and R3 000 on Online Banking.

Maximum daily send limits: R1 500 per day using Cellphone Banking and R3 000 per day using Online Banking
The combined maximum amount you can send is R3 000 daily and R10 000 monthly
Note : Costs are subject to change. There is no additional cost to the Recipient

How much can I send?

  • You can send up to R1 500* per day via Cellphone Banking and up to R3 000* per day via Online Banking
  • The maximum amount you can send is R3 000 daily and R10 000 monthly

* Zimbabwe Money transfer limits are included in the daily pre-paid channel limits, which means that in total, purchase of prepaid airtime, prepaid electricity, Send Money to eWallet and Send Money to Zimbabwe cannot be more than R1 500 for Cellphone Banking and R3 000 for Online Banking.

Do I qualify?

To send from your FNB transactional account:

  • To Send Money via Cellphone Banking you need to be registered for Cellphone Banking and InContact (learn how to register for Cellphone Banking)
  • To Send Money via Online Banking you need to be registered for Online Banking and InContact (learn how to register for Online Banking)
  • Your customer details need to be up-to-date and complete
  • Foreign passport holders must have up to date document and permit records which must be in good standing. These records can be updated at an FNB branch

What else do I need to know?

  • The Sender will receive an SMS/email notification that the transaction was successful including a voucher reference number.
  • The Sender must provide the Recipient with the voucher reference number and money transfer amount.
  • Note: FNB does not send an SMS/email to the Recipient.
  • When collecting funds at a participating OK Zimbabwe LTD Money Counter the Recipient must provide:
    • Zimbabwe Identity Document
    • Voucher reference number
    • Money transfer amount
  • If the money is not collected at the retailer within 14 days, it will be reversed back to the Sender's FNB account
  • The Recipient does not need a bank account, PIN or a bank card to get cash

How do I Send Money?

To Send Money via Cellphone Banking:

  • Dial *120*321#
  • Select 'Send Money'
  • Select 'Zimbabwe'
  • Select the account you wish to Send Money from
  • Key in the first 8 digits of the Recipient's Zimbabwean ID number (no dashes or letters)
  • Key in the Recipient's Zimbabwean cellphone number
  • Enter the amount you wish to send in Rand
  • Make sure you have entered the correct Zimbabwean ID number and Zimbabwean cellphone number and that you accept the Terms of Use
  • Sender receives an SMS/email with the Recipient's Zimbabwean ID number, voucher reference number and money transfer amount
  • Sender must communicate the voucher reference number, the need for the Recipient to provide the Zimbabwean ID document (will be available soon), as well as the money transfer amount. This information must be presented at the OK Zimbabwe Ltd Money Counter

To Send Money via FNB Online Banking:

  • Log into FNB Online Banking
  • Select the 'Send Money' tab
  • Select 'To Zimbabwe'
  • Enter the Recipient's details: Zimbabwean ID number, Recipients Zimbabwean cellphone number and the amount in ZAR you want to send
  • Accept the Terms of Use to confirm
  • Select the account you wish to Send Money from
  • Make sure you have entered the correct Zimbabwean ID number and Zimbabwean cellphone number and that you accept the Terms of Use
  • Enter your confirmation One Time PIN (OTP)
  • Transaction is successful
  • Sender receives an SMS/email with the Recipient's Zimbabwean ID number, voucher reference number and money transfer amount
  • Sender must communicate the voucher reference number, the need for the Recipient to provide the Zimbabwean ID document, as well as the money transfer amount. This information must be presented at the OK Zimbabwe Ltd Money Counter

To Send Money via FNB App:

  • Log onto The FNB Banking App and enter your password
  • Select More
  • Select Send Money to Zimbabwe or Mozambique
  • Read the information and select Continue
  • Select From account
  • Enter Amount
  • Enter Recipient Cell number
  • Enter Recipient's Zimbabwean ID number, or a self-select transfer code if sending to Mozambique
  • Select Send
  • Agree to the Terms of Use
  • If sending to Mozambique, accept the quote
  • Confirm
  • Finish
